We Provide Services That Help
Your Pet Live Happier Longer

At Healthy Happy Pet, we take a holistic approach to your pet's health. Our services are for the pet owner/guardian that prefers to take a pro-active approach to their pet's health. Our certified practitioners use the healing therapies, Jin Shin Jyutsu and Reconnective Healing to restore and maintain your pet's mobility, health and well-being. The services that we offer can be divided into five major categories: Wellness Care, Chronic Care, Acute Care, Behaviour Care, and Self-Care.

Wellness Care
The focus with wellness care is on maintaining and promoting your pet's health from birth through old age. These services will appeal to the pet owner/guardian who prefers to take a preventative approach to their pet's health rather than waiting for illness or injury to strike. In this category, we use our therapies to ensure that your pet's immune system is functioning at its optimum best, and that minor energy blockages are cleared before they have a chance to go deeper in the body, potentially causing problems of a chronic or acute nature.

We can also help to ensure that a pregnant animal, delivers a healthy litter, and that the youngsters grow into healthy, happy adults with the optimum skeletal, muscle, and emotional development.

Chronic Care
Our chronic care services benefit any pet that needs long-term medical attention by helping to maintain their health and quality of life. In this category the focus of our therapies is on providing relief, and where possible, resolution, to your pet's on-going health problems, and on slowing age-related deterioration.

Our therapies complement the medical care given by your vet and can help to enhance the benefits derived from that care. Sometimes the stress of medicating a chronically sick pet can cause more problems than the illness itself - our therapies can help relieve your pet's stress, and Jin Shin Jyutsu can be used effectively to help reduce the potentially harmful side-effects of long term drug use.

Today, our pets are enjoying increased longevity due to better nutrition and advances in veterinary care. However, this increased longevity also means that more pets are now developing age-related problems. The services of Healthy Happy Pet can help ease and even reverse the effects of aging on your pet, and provide real and lasting relief from conditions such as arthritis, skin and other allergies, diabetes, diminishing vision, joint problems, heart problems, kidney problems, cancer treatments and so much more.

Acute Care
Acute care treats injuries or illnesses that strike suddenly, or that are potentially life-threatening. No matter how much care we take, accidents happen and whether your pet has become injured through participating in a sports activity or through a car or other accident, our therapies can help speed your pet's recovery time. With our therapies, we can clear shock from your pet's body, and broken bones can heal twice as fast, without leaving the common residual arthritis. Tendon and ligament damage can be repaired internally, leaving no disruptive scar tissue. Muscle tears, joint problems and spinal mis-alignments can also be helped. In addition, we can speed the scar-free healing from bite wounds or cuts.

If your pet should require surgery, we offer pre and post surgical treatments that help speed the healing process. Receiving treatments pre-surgery prepares your pet's body for invasive procedures. This preparation can result in less blood loss during surgery, better recovery from anesthesia, and an optimised immune system that is well equipped to defend against post-operative infections. Post-surgery, our therapies will enhance your pet's recovery by removing the toxic residue from the anesthesia from their body, boosting his/her immune system, restoring the correct flow of energy throughout your pet's body that is likely to have been disrupted by the surgery, and helping the surgical incision to heal without scarring and by cutting recovery time by as much as half.

Behaviour Care

"Behaviour problems are the number one terminal illness in cats and dogs."
Dr. Ian Dunbar

When viewed from a holistic approach, the behaviour of your pet cannot be separated from it's physical well-being. It's a sad fact that problem behaviour is the number one reason why pets are given to shelters or "put down."

Behaviourial problems you may be having with your pet all originate with one or more of the emotions of worry, fear, aggression, sadness/grief, or trying too hard to please you. These emotions can easily be balanced using Jin Shin Jyutsu, and their associated behaviourial problems eliminated. This is because Jin Shin Jyutsu operates on a holistic level to harmonize your pet's innate energy, and thus is a true mind-body-spirit therapy.

Self Care
You live with your pet every day, and you know better than anyone when your pet feels under the weather. Would it not then be beneficial to have the knowledge to apply a simple routine for as little as one half hour, that will help your beloved friend feel better, right away, in your own home, with no on-going cost involved?

Healthy Happy Pet offers Self-Care Jin Shin Jyutsu Workshops for Pets and their Owner/Guardians, where you learn how you can maintain your pet's health and well-being and as a happy bonus, deepen the bonds between you at the same time.

The workshops are normally presented in a split format where the owner/guardians first attend a three hour lecture and hands-on class without their pets, usually held on a Friday evening. This lecture is designed to introduce you to the basic principles of Jin Shin Jyutsu Self-Help, and using material from Mary Burmerister's Jin Shin Jyutsu Self Help Text Books, teaches you how to work on yourself, so that you may better understand the application of Jin Shin Jyutsu Self-Care for your pet through your own experience of the art.

The next day (usually a Saturday) the workshop continues for a full day of learning, when you and your pet arrive together to explore the wonders of Jin Shin Jyutsu and learn how to use the Jin Shin Jyutsu for Companion Animals textbook to best benefit your pet's individual health concerns.

Our Jin Shin Jyutsu Self-Care Pet Workshops are available for owner/guardians and their dogs, cats and rabbits. Horse workshops are also available through Healthy Happy Horse. Workshops are normally held at our offices, and or by request they can be brought to your community group or club. If you are interested in hosting a Workshop, please call: (416) 737-6691.

The Practitioners
Janine Cheung, owner of Health Happy Pet is both a certified Jin Shin Jyutsu® practitioner, and a certified Jin Shin Jyutsu® Self-Help Instructor. Janine's journey with Jin Shin Jyutsu began in January 1999, when she received her first treatment to hasten her recovery from a back injury sustained in a fall while horseback riding.

Also at that time Janine was under the ongoing care of an Environmental Doctor and was being treated for severe multiple food, and environmental allergies that had been a problem since 1983. She also suffered from worsening fibromyalgia, a legacy of a year-long bout with stress-induced, chronic fatigue syndrome that she had experienced in 1992. Within a month of daily practicing Jin Shin Jyutsu self help, and receiving weekly treatments from a practitioner, Janine's fibromyalgia was resolved. Within four months, she was able to stop administering her bi-weekly allergy shots, and has not needed to take one antihistamine in the past five years.

After experiencing the profound healing power of Jin Shin Jyutsu first-hand, Janine was resolved to enter into a lifelong study of Jin Shin Jyutsu, and to become a practitioner and self-help instructor in order to share this wonderful healing art with people, their horses, and their companion animals.

In April 2003, Janine was certified by Dr. Eric Pearl as a Reconnective Healing™ practitioner, and is also certified to perform The Reconnection™. She has also successfully completed various animal related courses including: Functional Equine Anatomy - through the Guelph Equine Science Certificate program, and Acupressure for Companion Animals, with Amy Snow of Tallgrass Animal Acupressure, and a course in Healing Touch for Animals.

Janine currently shares her home with two rabbits, two cockatiels, and her partner, Gord Pfeffer, who is also a certified Jin Shin Jyutsu and Reconnective Healing practitioner. Gord assists with an animal's treatment if an extra pair of hands is needed. Together, Janine and Gord operate a holistic practice called Healthy Balanced Body, where they use Jin Shin Jyutsu, Reconnective Healing, and The Whole Person Fertility Program to restore Fertility, Mobility, Health and Well-being to bi-ped humans.
